Early Times Report JAMMU, July 8: Adv. Suresh Dogra, General Secretary of the Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee and former Chairman of the OBC Pradesh Congress Committee, visited various locations accommodating Amarnath pilgrims. Dogra, accompanied by his team, engaged with the pilgrims to assess the facilities provided during their stay. During his visits to the railway station, Yatri Bhawan, Mahajan Hall Shalamar, and various langar sites, Dogra appealed to local traders, hoteliers, and transporters to offer special discounts to Amarnath pilgrims. He emphasized that such gestures would enhance the image of Jammu, known as the City of Temples, and Kashmir, celebrated as paradise on Earth. Dogra inspected the arrangements made by the Jammu & Kashmir government, particularly praising the registration process, medical facilities, on-spot medical certificates, and langar services. He lauded the efforts of the doctors, the medical support staff, and the Civil Defence wardens for their selfless service to the pilgrims. Adv. Dogra called on the police authorities, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies to tighten security measures to ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage. Expressing satisfaction with the current arrangements, he noted that 150,000 pilgrims had visited the holy cave so far this year. Furthermore, Dogra urged pilgrims from all states to participate in the Amarnath Yatra, highlighting its message of communal harmony and brotherhood across India. However, he expressed dissatisfaction with the Election Commission of India for not restoring democracy in Jammu & Kashmir by holding elections. He criticized the central government for converting the state into a Union Territory, arguing that an elected government would have better facilitated the Yatra arrangements. Dogra was accompanied by prominent figures, including Jagdish Kashyap, Gulshan Kumar (both General Secretaries of DCC Jammu Urban), Sethi, Ajay Sethi (Youth Leader), and Babu Ram (President, Auto Union SMGS Hospital). |
