Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, July 9: In a tragic incident, four members of a family were killed in a road accident in the Handwara sub-district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said. The accident took place late last night when a vehicle in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge. Police on Tuesday said that the four, including two teenage girls, had gone to collect drinking water from a stream at Rajwara late Monday night in a vehicle, the Tata Magic, which skidded off the road and fell deep into a gorge, resulting in critical injuries to the occupants. All the injured were shifted to the nearby Community Health Centre Zachaldara, where doctors declared them dead. The people of the area alleged that Handwara has been facing an acute drinking water shortage for the past few months, and the Jal Shakti department has failed to take any positive initiative in this regard. |
