Sodhi Leads J&K Rifle Association Meeting on Upcoming UT Shooting Championship

Jammu, July 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Rifle Association, under the leadership of President S.S. Sodhi, convened a pivotal meeting today to discuss the organization of the upcoming Union Territory (UT) Shooting Championship. The meeting focused on the overall development of shooting sports in the region and making the participation available to more and more shooters, especially from the remote areas of J&K.
President S.S. Sodhi, alongside Chairman Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, CEO Sharat Chander, Vice Presidents- Samar Dev Singh, Ashok Kumar( Retired Joint Director Sports), Paramjeet Singh (V.P. Kashmir Province), Treasurer Arun Mansotra, Chairman Technical Committee- Rajesh Virdhy, other executive members including Manu Partap Singh, Sharuti Sharma, Deepika Jamwal, Jyotsana and expert coaches including Vishal Mehra, Aman Singh, and Vishal Sharma led detailed discussions on various aspects of the championship. The meeting was attended by several dignitaries and key stakeholders from the shooting sports community including Taranjeet Singh Tony, who has offered his services to handover 10 canals of land at R.S. Pura for creating state of the art Shooting Range.
During the meeting, the members of the association appreciated and thanked Sh. Dilbag Singh Ji, Former DGP for his continuous support in promoting shooting sports in J&K since the very inception of the association. It\ was his initiative to popularize the sport of shooting in the region. Also present in the meeting were large number of parents, including Mr Tuli.
Thanks were also extended to LG Manoj Sinha, Secretary Sports Council, Director Sports, and other government officials, including the police administration and all the J&K shooters who have participated in district, UT, national, and international tournaments, winning gold, silver, and bronze medals for the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. Special thanks were conveyed to their parents. The association also thanked all clubs and schools for their contributions towards shooting sports, including Mission Olympics, AIMS, etc. The house decided to open affiliations for upcoming shooting ranges and new member enrollment.
S.S.Sodhi emphasized the importance of meticulous planning and coordination to ensure the success of the UT Shooting Championship. He highlighted the need for providing athletes with top-notch facilities and support. The championship aims to bring together the best shooting talent from across the Union Territory. Plans for workshops, coaching clinics, and talent scouting programs were also outlined as a part of the broader vision to foster a robust shooting sports ecosystem in the UT.
The members of the association also deliberated on strategies to further promote and uplift shooting sports inJammu and Kashmir. Key points included the development of infrastructure, training programs for athletes, and initiatives to encourage youth participation in shooting sports. President S.S. Sodhi stressed the nsignificance of nurturing young talent and creating a conducive environment for their growth. "We are committed to elevating the standard of shooting sports in Jammu and Kashmir and providing our athletes with the best possible opportunities to excel," said President S.S. Sodhi. "The upcoming UT Shooting Championship will be a testament to our dedication and will set a new benchmark for the organization of such events in the region." The Association also discussed collaborations with national and international shooting bodies to bring advanced training techniques and resources to local athletes.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous agreement on the immediate steps to be taken for the championship's preparation and the long-term initiatives for sports growth. Jammu & Kashmir Rifle Association expressed on behalf of the association, expressed gratitude to all participants for their valuable inputs and pledged to work tirelessly towards the betterment of shooting sports in the Union Territory.
