Early Times Report JAMMU, July 27: Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, Jammu, today organized a tree plantation drive on its premises, promoting environmental conservation and sustainability. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Ravinder Singh Regional Director, J&K UT Government Social Forestry Department, Jammu, Forest Ranger Dinesh Joshi, Sardar Narendra Singh (President J&K Rural Sports Club Jammu), Sardar Ravtej Singh (Chairman Manav Sewa Society), Amolak Singh (General Secretary J&K Rural Deptt.), Sardar Jodh Singh (President of Gurdwara Prabandak Committee Simbal) The drive was inaugurated by Principal, Rameshwar Mengi, who emphasized the significance of tree plantation in maintaining ecological balance and combating climate change. He was accompanied by Headmaster, Harish, and Incharge Higher Secondary Wing, Sudesh Rana, along with faculty members, Sudesh Kashyap and Sanjeev Goswami. After receiving the guests, the plantation drive commenced with a pooja ceremony, followed by the planting of trees by Ravinder Singh and other guests. Students and teachers also participated enthusiastically in planting trees in the school garden. In their speeches, Ravinder Singh highlighted the importance of trees and urged students to plant at least one tree, naming it after their mother, and nurturing it. Narendra Singh, President, J&K Rural Sports Club, Jammu, explained the consequences of deforestation and emphasized the need for planting trees. Amolak Singh, General Secretary, J&K Rural Department, encouraged students to plant at least one tree on their birthday. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, and the school looks forward to organizing more such activities in the future. |
