Two-day district-level sports competition HLD

REASI, July 27: The Gen. Zorawar Singh Stadium in Reasi buzzed with excitement as a two-day district-level sports competition themed "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" concluded with resounding success. Organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) Reasi in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department Reasi, the event aimed to promote sports participation among young girls and foster gender equality.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from 240 athletes across the district, showcasing their skills in Kho-Kho, Volleyball, and Kabaddi. Tarsem Singh, District Officer YSS, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Sachin Sharma, District Officer Social Welfare Reasi, joined as a special guest.
On the final day, winning teams were awarded trophies and sports kits, generously provided by the Social Welfare Department, highlighting the commitment to empowering young girls through sports.
Final Results (Girls):
Kho-Kho: Block Katra emerged victorious over Block Arnas.
Volleyball: Block Pouni clinched the title by defeating Block Reasi.
Kabaddi: Block Thakrakot triumphed over Block Pouni.
The event was a significant step towards achieving the goals of the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" initiative. By providing a platform for young girls to showcase their athletic abilities, the competition has inspired many to pursue sports as a career and contribute to the overall development of the district.
Monika Sharma, the mission coordinator, expressed her gratitude to the District Officer of Youth Services & Sports for organizing the competition. Ritu Sharma, Gender Specialist from the Social Welfare Department, also acknowledged the efforts made towards promoting gender equality through sports.
Matches were officiated by a dedicated team including Balwan Singh, Shakti Kumar, Saroj Bala, Asha Devi, Devinder Kour, Madan Mohan, Jasbir Kour, Jasvinder Kour, Sanjeev Kumar, Rani Devi, Surinder Singh, Deep Singh, Balwan Singh, Ashoka Kumari, Kuldeep Kumar, Jagdev Singh, Mohd. Raiz, Shamim Akther, Goutam Kundal, Jugal Kishor, Vikas Verma, Tahir, Bilal, Danish Singh, Rajan Kumar, Ashish Kumar, Surbhi Anthal, Madhu Rani, Anjana Sharma, Neha Sharma, Mohit Kumar, Rohit Kumar, Priya Gandotra, Anoop Jyoti, Usha Devi, Rohan Kumar, Ankush Sharma, Mohd. Arif, Mohd. Raqeeb, and Kajol Devi. The event was supervised by Activity Incharge Kuldeep Kumar.
By providing a platform for young girls to excel in sports, Reasi takes a significant stride towards achieving the goals of the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" initiative.
