Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, July 30: The students of the Department of Biotechnology of the Government Degree College, Udhampur participated in the comprehensive 10-days hands-on workshop titled "Yuva Kaushal Karyashala" organized by CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), through its Technology Business Incubator (TBI) BioNEST Bio incubation Centre from 15th July 2024 to 25th July 2024.This workshop focused to train participants about Industrial Biotechnology, Medical Microbiology, and Natural Products Chemistry thus providing them with practical training and exposure in these crucial fields. The workshop saw active participation of a total of 160 students across the various colleges of Jammu Division. The students of B.Sc. Biotechnology of Government Degree College, Udhampur participated under the able guidance of Dr. Sanjay Verma, Principal, GDC, Udhampur and supervision of Dr. Richa Sharma (Head, Dept. Of Biotechnology) taking part in both the 10-day training and the associated Hackathon 4.0. During the workshop, students were engaged in various practical sessions and lectures conducted by eminent scientists and researchers from CSIR-IIIM. In addition to the training, participants were encouraged to apply their learnings and Skills in the Hackathon 4.0 organized by the Host institute focusing on incubation of innovative ideas for StartUps in the Young minds for a better future and the Society. In Ist Round of Hackathon 4.O, a total of 38 groups took part out of which 9 were shortlisted for 2nd Round amongst whom 3 groups of GDC, Udhampur reached in Top 9. Two student groups from Government Degree College, Udhampur excelled in the Hackathon 4.O in the 2nd Round by claiming IST Prize awarded to Yoshita Bhuri, Simran Khajuria, Shabnam Akhter, Priksha and Minu Sharma for their innovative idea about BAMBOO SALT which has its numerous medicinal properties, anti-cancerous, Anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory effects which offers a healthy lifestyle and prevent many diseases like anaemia and hypertension when used in a long run. The Second Prize was secured by Shivansh Bhogal, Akshita, Sunakshi Raina, Aastha Katoch and Akriti Verma for their idea was about CHIRAYU which is a startup dedicated to providing high-quality, authentic Ayurveda medicines and aspires to be a leading name in Ayurveda, offering a healthy and holistic approach to healthcare. Shivansh Bhogal was also recognized as the meritorious student for his outstanding performance during the 10-day training workshop. The awards were presented to the winners by the Worthy Chief Guest of the event, Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM along with the eminent Scientists. |
