ASCOMS celebrates World ORS Day - 2024

JAMMU, July 30: World ORS Day 2024 was celebrated in Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital. The event was organized by Department of Paediatrics in association with Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) and NAMS, J&K Chapter under the guidance of Dr. Ravinder K Gupta, Prof & Head and Dr. Sushil Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Paediatrics. Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal, ASCOMS was the Chief Guest on the occasion. A Symposium on various aspects of ORS was organized in which MBBS students namely Ipshita Mahajan, Ayush Magotra, Amman Mushtaq and Roachak deliberated various aspects of Oral Rehydration Therapy. Dr. Kritika Arora and Dr. Amber Sharma, PG students, Department of Paediatric also deliberated on practical issues and gave demonstration on "How to prepare home based ORS as well as readymade ORS". A skit highlighting the significance of homemade ORS was performed and was directed by Prof (Dr.) Indra Moza, Principal, ASCCON Education in which the students of B.Sc. Nursing participated.
Dr. Ravinder K Gupta, while speaking on the occasion discussed the need regarding awareness of benefits of ORS to public at large and described the Oral Rehydration Solution as one of the modalities in saving precious lives. Dr. Pavan Malhotra, , the Chief Guest while addressing the gathering appreciated the presentation made by the Undergraduate as well as Postgraduate students. He also appreciated the students of Nursing College who presented the skit on awareness about benefits of ORS. The programme was conducted by Dr. Aradita.
The event was attended by all Faculty members, Resident Doctors, Postgraduate students, MBBS students, Nursing and Paramedical Students and other staff.
