GDC Surankote Hosts Seminar on New Criminal Laws

Surankote, Aug 3: Government Degree College (GDC) Surankote hosted a one-day seminar on three new criminal laws as part of the Swachhata Pakhwada initiative. The event was a collaborative effort by the NSS unit, NCC wing, and the Departments of Physics, Economics, and English. The seminar was coordinated under the leadership of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Rani Mughal.
The seminar was graced by the chief guest, Jenab Parvaiz Iqbal, Hon’ble Principal and District Sessions Judge of Kulgam. Other notable attendees included Jenab Wajahat Hussain Kazmi, Sub-judge Surankote; Dr. Aurangzeb Anjum, Coordinator IQAC & HOD Zoology at SKC GDC Poonch; Jenab Ajaz Ahmed, SDPO Surankote; Dr. Mohd Yousaf, BMO Surankote; Jenab Zia-ur-Rehman, Chief Prosecuting Officer Kulgam; and Advocate Basit Ali Zargar, who served as the guest of honor. Special guests included Jenab Shafiq Mughal, Lecturer in Political Science at Govt. Model HSS Boys Surankote, and Miss Rukhsar Mughal, a social activist from Poonch.
The seminar was attended by students from GDC Surankote, Model Boys Higher Secondary School Surankote, and Model Girls Higher Secondary School Surankote.
The event commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony by the distinguished guests, followed by the National Anthem. Prof. Fateh Mohammad Abassi provided a brief introduction to the program, while Prof. Abdul Karim Bajran, IQAC Coordinator, delivered the opening address and warmly welcomed the dignitaries. Prof. Fatima, NSS PO, skillfully hosted the event, which was convened by Dr. Rizwan Ahmed Khan and Prof. Adan Ali Shah.
In his address, Jenab Parvaiz Iqbal praised Principal Dr. Rani Mughal for her contributions to the institution and encouraged students to explore their talents and engage in self-discovery. He emphasized the importance of hard work and perseverance, citing examples of renowned athletes like Michael Phelps and Michael Jordan to illustrate his points.
