Early Times Report RAMBAN, Aug 13: As part of the 77th Independence Day celebrations, Government Degree College (GDC) Ramban hosted an inter-college competition within its premises. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Narlip Kour, Principal of GDC Batote, as the chief guest, while the overall supervision of the event was led by Prof. Archana Kaul, Principal of GDC Ramban. The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students representing various colleges, including GDC Ramban, GDC Ukhral, GDC Banihal, GDC Batote, and GDC Gool. The event featured four categories of competition: Painting, Essay Writing, Quiz, and National Anthem Singing. In the Painting Competition, themed "Depicting Important Events of the Freedom Struggle," 13 students showcased their artistic talents. Mehwish Wani of GDC Batote secured the 1st position, with Jyoti Sharma, also from GDC Batote, claiming the 2nd position, and Manisha Mehra of GDC Ramban taking the 3rd place. The Essay Writing Competition focused on "Unsung Heroes of the Freedom Struggle," attracting 15 participants. Masrat Iqbal from GDC Banihal emerged as the winner, followed by Shaista Banoo of GDC Ramban in 2nd place, and Rohit Chand of GDC Batote securing the 3rd position. In the National Anthem Singing Competition, which featured 20 participants, the top honors were awarded to Komal Rakwal (GDC Ramban) for 1st place, Sonali Sharma (GDC Batote) for 2nd place, and Manisha Mehra (GDC Ramban) for 3rd place. The Quiz Competition, conducted in three challenging rounds, saw fierce competition among the participating teams. GDC Ramban emerged victorious, securing the 1st position, while GDC Ukhral and GDC Batote took the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where medals and certificates were awarded to the winners. Prof. Narlip Kour congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation, while Prof. Archana Kaul highlighted the importance of such activities in the overall personality development of students. The celebrations culminated with a "Tiranga Rally," where students and staff from all participating colleges marched together, displaying their patriotism and unity in honor of India's Independence Day. |
