Directorate of Agriculture holds plantation drive

JAMMU, Aug 13: Directorate of Agriculture Jammu organized a significant plantation drive as part of the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada 2024. The event, held at Krishi Bhawan Complex and the Farmers Training Centre (FTC) Kissan Bhawan Jammu, featured impactful initiatives: "Ek Ped Shaheedon Ke Naam" and "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" commemorating the 78th Independence Day.
Under the leadership of Director Agriculture Jammu, Arvinder Singh Reen, the plantation drive witnessed active participation from Sectoral Heads, each planting 50 saplings within their respective premises. This symbolic gesture served as a tribute to martyrs and a honouring mothers, underscoring the spirit of remembrance and respect.
Apiculture Development Scheme conducted a specialized plantation drive at the Bee Flora Garden in Krishi Bhawan Jammu. This segment of the Swachhata Pakhwada 2024, which was graced by the presence of Director Agriculture Jammu, focused on planting key bee flora species, including Jamun, Bottle Brush, and Amaltas. The drive aimed to promote the cultivation of bee-friendly plants crucial for the survival of honey bees.
The plantation drive was attended by officials, including Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Shri Satish Sharma, Deputy Director (Trainings) Shri Alok Pandotra, Agronomist (VIS) Jammu Shri Vikas Padha, Assistant Entomologist Shri Rajesh Verma, and SMS-RL Shri Darmesh Vaid, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture, Jammu, emphasized the importance of tree plantation in maintaining ecological balance and promoting sustainable development. He encouraged the participants to take care of the planted saplings and make the initiative a success.
