Jammu, Aug 13: The Department of Punjabi, in collaboration with the NSS Unit of the college, organized a pledge-taking ceremony on August 13, 2024, as part of the Government of India’s “Nasha Mukt Abhiyan” campaign. The event was held under the patronage of Dr. Meeru Abrol, Principal of the college, and aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of a drug-free society. “Nasha Mukt Abhiyan,” a comprehensive initiative launched by the Government of India, seeks to eradicate substance abuse across the country. The campaign focuses on prevention, awareness, and rehabilitation, with a particular emphasis on protecting the youth from the dangers of drug addiction. The virtual event commenced with an opening address by Ms. Sheetal Nanda, Commissioner Secretary, Department of Social Welfare. Ms. Nanda highlighted the goals of the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and the pivotal role that communities play in its success. “This campaign is not just about saying no to drugs; it’s about creating an environment where our youth can thrive without the shadow of substance abuse,” she remarked. Approximately 50 students participated in the event, where they took solemn vows not to consume drugs in any form, reinforcing their commitment to leading healthy and drug-free lives. The ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the collective responsibility to protect the younger generation from the perils of drug addiction and to foster a safe and supportive environment for their growth. |
