Early Times Report

Udhampur, Aug 13: In a vibrant display of patriotism and unity, in compliance with Swantrata Pakhwara, the NCC Wing of 2 JK Boys Battalion, 2 JK Girls Battalion, and the NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur and APS Udhampur, came together to organize a grand Tiranga Rally on 13th August 2024. The rally was part of the college’s initiatives to celebrate the 77th Independence Day of India and to instil a deep sense of national pride among students and the local community.
The Tiranga Rally, which commenced from the college premises, saw enthusiastic participation from NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, faculty members, and students of GDC Udhampur. The rally was flagged off by the Principal of the college, Prof (Dr) Sanjay Verma, who in his address highlighted the significance of such events in fostering a sense of patriotism and responsibility among the youth. The rally was organised under the instruction of Commanding Officer of 2JK Boys Bn, Col Rajesh Jasrotia and Commanding Officer of 2JK Girls Bn, Col Munsih Jasrotia.
Holding the tricolour high, the participants marched enthusiastically, chanting patriotic slogans and singing national songs, resonating throughout the town.
The rally was a visual spectacle, with participants donning the colours of the national flag, creating an atmosphere charged with nationalistic fervour. The route of the rally covered key areas of the town—Dak Bungalow, Omara Morh, Bus Stand, and MH Chowk—allowing a large number of residents to witness the event and join in the celebrations. The purpose of the Tiranga Rally was not only to celebrate the upcoming Independence Day but also to remind the community of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and the importance of upholding the values of democracy, liberty, and justice. The rally served as a powerful message of unity, reflecting the collective spirit of the nation.
The event concluded back at the college, where the Principal, along with the NCC and NSS officers, addressed the gathering.
He praised the participants for their enthusiasm and dedication, emphasizing the need to continue fostering such patriotic activities in the future. The Tiranga Rally organized by the NCC and NSS units of GDC Udhampur was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on all who participated and witnessed the event. It not only celebrated the nation’s independence but also strengthened the bonds of unity and patriotism within the community.
