Jammu, Sept 14: Although only six days left for campaigning for the first phase of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the suspense continues over the election manifesto of the Congress party. With much publicity, the Congress had announced formation of manifesto committee headed by former minister and ex-president of the Pradesh Congress Committee Prof Saif-ud-Soz but the party has failed to release the manifesto so far. Taking lead from other political parties, Congress had constituted election manifesto committee in the month of July when there was uncertainty over Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir. Before the announcement of schedule for the Assembly elections in J&K, members of the Congress’s election manifesto committee had interacted with cross sections of the society to incorporate their demands. Interestingly, Congress’s arch political rival in Jammu and Kashmir BJP has already released its election manifesto named as “Sankalp Patra”. If the National Conference (NC) and Congress government comes to power in J&K. I promise, we will get both houses, assembly and legislative council restored,” the Congress president told a crowd at Anantnag. |
