Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 25: The Jammu Kashmir Government Pharmacists Association (JKGPA) celebrated World Pharmacist Day on 25th September 2024 under the leadership of Sh. Bharat Bhushan Bhagat, President of JKGPA, at the Conference Hall of Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The event honored the legacy of Prof. Mahadeva Lal Schroff, the father of pharmacy in India, and aimed to highlight the critical role of pharmacists in healthcare. The program began with the National Anthem and the ceremonial lamp lighting, led by Dr. Rakesh Magotra, Director of Health Services Jammu, the Chief Guest for the event. Other esteemed dignitaries included Smt. Lotika Khajuria, President of the State Pharmacy Council, Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar, Medical Superintendent of Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar, and Sh. Surinder Mohan Tikoo, Registrar of the State Pharmacy Council, who served as the Guest of Honor. In his address, Sh. Sushil Sudan, President of the JKMEF and a member of the Pharmacy Council of India, spoke about the life and contributions of Prof. Mahadeva Lal Schroff, who played a pivotal role in promoting pharmacy education in India. Sh. Sudan also discussed the recent amendments to the Pharmacy Act of 1948, which have benefited over 27,000 pharmacists in the region following the abrogation of Article 370.
