Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 30: In anticipation of the upcoming Navratras, commencing from October 3, 2024, Jammu and Kashmir Police, under the leadership of SSP Jammu, held a comprehensive interaction and awareness session today at the Bagh-e-Bahu Mandir complex. The session was aimed at ensuring the safety and security of devotees, shopkeepers, and the local community during the festive period. The meeting was chaired by SP South Jammu, Shri Ajay Sharma, and attended by SDPO East, Shri Shezan Bhat, SHO Bagh-e-Bahu, Inspector Vijay Verma, IC PP Mandir SI Lekhraj Sharma, as well as key stakeholders, including the President of the Minibus Union, President of the Auto Union, the parking in-charge, members of the Mandir Prabandhak Committee, and the President of the Bagh-e-Bahu Market Union. The primary focus of the meeting was to raise awareness about the current security scenario in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (JKUT) and to outline the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders. Special emphasis was placed on managing the anticipated large influx of devotees to the revered Baba Wali Mata temple complex and surrounding areas during Navratras. Following the session, SP City South, along with SDPO City East Jammu and other senior officers, toured the temple market, surrounding areas, and the main temple premises. They interacted with devotees, shopkeepers, and locals, urging them to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities or objects to the police. The public was reminded of their crucial role in ensuring a safe and smooth pilgrimage experience during Navratras, especially in light of the prevailing security challenges. SP South also shared important contact numbers, including those of the PCR Jammu, with the public and stakeholders, and encouraged the shopkeepers and market union members to install additional CCTV cameras. He stressed the importance of regularly checking the functionality of existing cameras and increasing the storage capacity of DVRs to enhance security surveillance. In addition, the security arrangements at PP Mandir Bahu Fort were reviewed, with SP South briefing the deployed personnel to remain alert and vigilant, ready to respond swiftly in case of any emergencies. The local community, including devotees, shopkeepers, and the Mandir committee, expressed their gratitude to the Jammu Police for their proactive approach in ensuring a secure environment during the Navratras. They praised the police for their outreach efforts and assured full cooperation in maintaining safety throughout the festival. This initiative by the Jammu Police reflects a strong commitment to safeguarding religious events and fostering community collaboration in maintaining public security. |
