Jammu, Sept 30: A day before the completion of the polling for the last and final phase of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress extended an olive branch to the ignored Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to formulate a grand alliance post-elections to stop BJP for attaining power. Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Jairam Ramesh on Monday said that PDP is not our rival in Jammu and Kashmir. On the question of a possible grand alliance with PDP, after the elections to stop the BJP, Jairam Ramesh claimed that the NC-Congress alliance will get a clear majority. “Let us see what happens. The PDP is a part of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) alliance but our alliance for elections in Jammu and Kashmir is only with the National Conference. Let us see what will happen post-polls”, he said while dropping a hint that the Congress would not hesitate to rope in PDP in case the alliance falls short of some seats. Jairam Ramesh, a key Congress leader, has made a significant statement about the possibility of a grand alliance with the PDP after the elections to prevent the BJP from coming to power. According to Ramesh, the National Conference-Congress alliance is confident of securing a clear majority, but he also hinted that the Congress might consider partner PDP is not our rival in Jammu and Kashmir. The NC-Congress alliance will get a clear majority. The PDP is a part of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) alliance. After the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the party has expanded its support base in both Jammu and Kashmir regions. ng with the PDP if they fall short of some seats. It's worth noting that the PDP is part of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) alliance, but for the Jammu and Kashmir elections, the Congress has only allied with the National Conference. Despite being part of the same INDIA alliance, the Congress and National Conference have not included the PDP in their Lok Sabha and Assembly election alliances in Jammu and Kashmir . In the Kashmir Valley, the PDP is competing against the NC-Congress alliance on most seats. Interestingly, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has avoided directly targeting the Congress during her campaign, instead focusing her attacks on the National Conference. This strategy suggests that the PDP may be open to a potential alliance with Congress in the future. These developments indicate a complex and dynamic political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir, with potential alliances and partnerships being explored to counter the BJP's influence. “The National Conference-Congress alliance is going to form its government in Jammu and Kashmir because people have decided to give a clear mandate to this alliance for a stable regime”, Jairam Ramesh said. The Congress leader claimed that after the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the party has expanded its support base in both the Jammu and Kashmir regions. |
