Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 19: Government Polytechnic College organized Chess Tournament in the college. Students from all the ten departments took part in this tournament which was played on knockout basis at two levels, Intra-departmental and Inter-departmental. The Intra-department Competitions were inaugurated by the worthy Principal Er. Arun Bangotra on 14th of October 2024. HoD's and staff of all the departments organized an Intra- department chess competition for the students of all the three semesters of their department. Principal Er. Arun Bangotra was Chief Guest on the final match and prize distribution function. Amit Kumar Sharma, Sports Secretary and Chamel Singh PEM welcomed the Principal Er. Arun Bangotra, who interacted with all the participants and exhorted spectators and participants to take part in Indoor and Outdoor activities which will give all round development and it will groom their overall personalities to take challenges later in their life. "Chess", he said, is a game of nerves which can develop critical thinking, problem solving, decision making and planning skills. The final matches of Inter Departmental chess tournament was conducted today on 19th of October in the conference hall under the expert panel of Er. Rishab Gupta Lecturer-I (Convener), Er. Paramjot Singh (Demonstrator), Himanshu Bakshi, Rakesh Khullar, Chamel Singh (PEM) and Toshi Devi (PET). In the 1st semi-final Anirudh Sharma of Information Technology Department beat Kashish Jasrotia of Travel and Tourism and in the 2nd semi-final Chinmay Sharma of Architecture Department beat Puneet Kumar of Computer Department. In the Summit clash a tough fight was seen between Chinmay Sharma and Anirudh Sharma where Chinmay held his nerves and proved his mental strength and was declared winner of this year title and Anirudh Sharma was declared runner up of the event. Er. Sukhdeep Singh HOD Civil Engineering, Er. Raj Kumar HOD Mechanical Engineering, Sanjay Koul HOD Computer Engineering, Rani Devi HOD IT, Sanam Gupta Lecturer-I Mechanical Engineering, Rishabh Gupta Lecturer-I Mechanical Engineering, Mehraj-u-din Lecturer MLT, Manu Rajput, Himani Dubey, Jeenita, also witnessed the final match along with students of various departments. |
