Jammu, Oct 29: Leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir BJP and the newly elected MLAs of the party have maintained a guarded silence over the functioning of the National Conference government headed by Omar Abdullah as the central leadership of the party has asked them to wait for the outcome of Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections. Highly placed sources in the BJP said that local leaders are in touch with the high command to make decisions on supporting or opposing the newly formed National Conference government in Jammu and Kashmir. “As of now, the entire central leadership is busy in ongoing assembly elections in two states in general and Maharashtra in particular”, a source in the BJP said and added the policy regarding Jammu and Kashmir will be formulated after the completion of the elections in both the states. Taking a cue from the recent statement of senior party leader Ram Madhav, the BJP leader said that the party is unlikely to cooperate with the National Conference regime because some leaders in the National Conference have anti-Jammu mindsets and they will not allow Omar Abdullah to ensure justice with Jammu region. Notably, Ram Madhav, who was appointed as election incharge of BJP just after the announcement of Assembly polls in the J&K, observed that the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference (NC) Government does not fully represent the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly highlighting the absence of Jammu in its representation. He emphasized that the BJP never considered forming an alliance with the NC. According to Madhav, the NC managed to establish the government in J&K solely with support from the Kashmir Valley. |
