Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 5: It is a matter of pride for Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, Solan, that its B.Tech. Biotechnology program, offered by the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, has received National Board of Accreditation (NBA) accreditation again, extending through three academic sessions until June, 2027. The NBA is one of the two major bodies responsible for accrediting higher education institutions in India, alongside the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The NBA accredits technical programs, such as engineering and management, and is a full member of the Washington Accord. Recently JUIT awarded NAAC A+ grade valid through 2029. NBA accreditation process serves as a quality assurance and improvement measure, critically appraising programs in approved institutions to verify that they continue to meet or exceed the norms and standards prescribed by regulatory bodies. Accreditation is a form of recognition that indicates a program meets certain standards. Accredited institutions and programs enhance student confidence, as employers highly value degrees from accredited programs. Furthermore, accreditation demonstrates accountability to the public, a commitment to excellence, and a focus on continuous quality improvement. Prof Sudhir Kumar, Head of the Department, appraised that the first NBA accreditation for the B.Tech. Biotechnology program at JUIT occurred in 2014. He emphasized that this recent accreditation was achieved due to the university's management vision, strong infrastructure, dedicated faculty, and committed students. He also commended the efforts of NBA Coordinator Dr Saurabh Bansal and all other faculty and staff members of the department for their dedication and continuous efforts for providing the quality education to their students. Prof RK Sharma, Vice Chancellor, and CEO Shri Manu Bhaskar Gaur congratulated all stakeholders involved in the accreditation process. |
