Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Nov 11: Government Degree College (GDC) Neeli Nallah, Udhampur organized a one-day workshop as part of AYUSH Mahotsav 2024. Led by the college's NCORD Unit, the event aimed to raise awareness on drug abuse, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), and the benefits of yoga. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Directorate of Ayush, J&K, and the District AYUSH Officer Udhampur, under the guidance of Principal Dr. (Prof.) Seema Arora. Dr. Arora inaugurated the workshop, emphasizing yoga's potential in combating drug abuse and managing health issues in women. Resource persons Dr. Rakesh Gupta and Dr. Vilakshi Jamwal presented on drug abuse and PCOS, respectively. Dr. Gupta highlighted the life-threatening consequences of drug abuse, urging students to incorporate sports and yoga into their routines. Dr. Jamwal discussed PCOS, its symptoms, and the importance of early awareness. Yoga instructors Dinesh Bhagat and Niroshi Sharma led a session on yoga asanas, promoting the concept of "Yoga for Women Empowerment" and "Yoga for PCOS." They encouraged students to use yoga as a tool for self-confidence and body positivity. The workshop, convened by Dr. Rekha Sharma and organized by faculty members Dr. Akhter Hussain, Dr. Zahoor, Dr. Muntazir, and Dr. Mubarik Mahir, was well-attended, with faculty and students actively participating in discussions and activities. |
