Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 20: Vikram Randhawa, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Bahu constituency, has reiterated his commitment to transforming the constituency by improving infrastructure and public amenities. During a recent visit to Nanak Nagar's Ward 44, Sector 11, Randhawa, accompanied by officials from the Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED), reviewed the condition of the nallah flowing through the locality. He stressed the urgent need to redevelop the nallah, which stretches from Bathindi to Jeevan Nagar via Landoi Choi, as it has been causing flooding and significant inconvenience to residents, especially during the rainy season. The filthy water from the nallah has been entering homes, leading to health hazards and disruption of daily life. In a bid to address this issue, Randhawa directed UEED officials to prioritize the redevelopment project, with a specific focus on the stretch from Chowadi to Jeevan Nagar. He emphasized the need for proper construction and a redesign to prevent future flooding and safeguard public health. The MLA urged officials to complete the work before the upcoming rainy season to avoid further damage. Randhawa also appealed to the residents to support the initiative by voluntarily removing encroachments along the nallah. He instructed the department to reclaim encroached land and build a retaining wall to contain the water flow and prevent future flooding. The MLA's vision is to ensure that Bahu constituency becomes a model region in Jammu, with robust infrastructure and resolution of civic issues. "We will leave no stone unturned in transforming Bahu constituency," Randhawa assured. "The development of infrastructure and the resolution of civic issues are paramount to ensuring the betterment of the community." The residents of the area expressed their hope that the timely completion of these projects would bring relief to their ongoing hardships, enhancing their quality of life and ensuring a cleaner, safer environment.
