Awareness campaign on Prevention of Sexual Harassment held | | | Early Times Report KATRA, Dec 6: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) hosted a one-day Awareness Campaign on "Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women and Students in Higher Educational Institutions" at the Matrika Auditorium. Organized by the Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) in collaboration with NSS and NCC, the event aimed to educate stakeholders on addressing sexual harassment in educational spaces. The campaign featured Advocate Kiran Thakur as the guest speaker, who emphasized the impact of repeated harassment on mental health and well-being. She elaborated on the POSH Act, 2013, and UGC regulations for higher educational institutions. Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, commended the initiative and highlighted the institution's responsibility to uphold women's rights, given its dedication to the divine mother. Rangoli and poster competitions, along with an awareness rally, added vibrancy to the event. The campaign concluded successfully with active participation from students, faculty, and staff, reinforcing SMVDU's commitment to creating a safe and respectful environment. |
