SAMBA, Dec 6: Jammu and Kashmir Police intensified its crackdown on narcotics smugglers, arresting three notorious drug peddlers, including two women, in Vijaypur. The operation led to the recovery of 21 grams of heroin, four mobile phones, a weighing machine, and ?38,770 in cash. A police team from Vijaypur Police Station, led by SHO Inspector Sh. Sushil Choudhary under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur and SSP Samba, intercepted a bike without registration near Rakh Barotian. Upon searching the bike, police recovered 11.43 grams of heroin, mobile phones, a weighing machine, and cash amounting to ?24,630. The accused, identified as Bhag Ali alias Ashiq Ali and his sister Meenu, both residents of Rakh Barotian, were arrested on the spot. They were found to be active suppliers of drugs in the region. A case (FIR No. 155/2024 U/S 8/21/22/27-A/29 NDPS Act) was registered, and investigations have started. In another operation at Rakh Barotian, police arrested Roshan Bibi alias Lalu, recovering 8.90 grams of heroin and ?14,140 in cash. A separate case (FIR No. 156/2024 U/S 8/21/22/27-A NDPS Act) has been registered. SSP Samba stated that the police are committed to eradicating narco-trade in the district and assured stringent legal actions against those involved in such activities. Further investigations are underway. |
