Early Times Report POUNI, Dec 7: Government Degree College (GDC) Pouni, in collaboration with the J&K AIDS Control Society, observed World AIDS Day with a series of impactful events from December 2nd to December 7th, 2024. The activities, organized by the Red Ribbon Club, NSS Unit, and NCORD Cell under the guidance of Principal Dr. Udhay Bhanu, focused on raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, its prevention, and treatment. The week-long program, coordinated by Dr. U. S. Liza, Convener of the Red Ribbon Club, alongside Prof. Bishan Das and Prof. Mohit Anand, featured engaging events such as a quiz competition, slogan writing, poster-making, a symposium, and an awareness rally. The events kicked off with a Quiz Competition on December 2, with 90 students participating to test their knowledge about HIV/AIDS. On December 3, a slogan writing competition encouraged students to create impactful messages, while a poster-making competition showcased artistic creativity focused on HIV/AIDS awareness. Winning slogans and posters were displayed across the campus. On December 5, an awareness rally was held, with students, faculty, and staff marching through the community, distributing pamphlets, and engaging with locals to spread the message of prevention and support for those affected by HIV/AIDS. The program concluded with a symposium and prize distribution for the winners. These sessions offered insights into the latest research and ways to support individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Principal Dr. Udhay Bhanu applauded the efforts of the organizers, faculty, and students, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in educating the community. The event ended with a group photograph and the distribution of certificates to participants, recognizing their contributions to this meaningful initiative. |
