Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 7: The Diocese of Jammu-Srinagar Education Society (DJSES) hosted its prestigious "Shining Stars and Silver Spirits Award Ceremony" at St. Peter's Higher Secondary School, Karan Bagh. The event recognized academic achievements, artistic talent, and the invaluable service of educators who have significantly impacted the lives of students. Chief Guest: Suresh Kumar Gupta, IFS, Principal Secretary to the Government, Department of School Education Guest of Honour: Subah Mehta JKAS, Joint Director, School Education, Jammu Presiding Over: Rt. Rev. Ivan Pereira, Bishop of Jammu-Srinagar Diocese and President of DJSES The ceremony honoured the stellar performance of students in the Class X and XII board examinations: Class X: Out of 1,976 students, 1,968 passed with a pass percentage of 99.6%. 657 students scored above 90%. Class XII: Out of 557 students, 524 passed with a pass percentage of 94.1%. 75 students scored above 90%. The event also celebrated employees of DJSES who have completed 25 years of service. These jubilarians were honoured with mementos as a token of gratitude for their lifelong dedication to education. An exciting highlight of the event was the Inter-School Band Competition, with bands from four schools showcasing precision, artistry, and teamwork. Judges: ASI Shambhu Sharan Singh, Havildar Renoy Balakrishnan, and Havildar B. Devappa from Indian Army Pipe Band. Winner: Pavantama Convent School, Manwal. Runner-up: Carmel Convent School, Kunjwani. All participating schools received participation trophies and certificates. The event featured captivating cultural performances by students, including: A prayer dance by St. Peter's School, Karan Bagh. A Dogri folk dance by St. Peter's School, B.C Road. A high-energy Bhangra performance by Holy Cross Convent School, R.S. Pura. Fr. Shaiju Chacko, Secretary of DJSES, highlighted the day's purpose, saying, "Today, we celebrated not just academic success but unity, cultural pride, and dedication. It is a reminder of our collective commitment to shaping responsible citizens." The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Fr. Sebastian Velankanni and the national anthem, led by the Carmel Convent School Band, marking the event's dignified closure. |
