Drug peddler arrested in Kishtwar | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Dec 7: J&K Police District Kishtwar has achieved another success in its ongoing fight against the drug menace by arresting a drug peddler and recovering approximately 11 grams of heroin-like substance. Based on information, a Naka was established by the team of Police station Kishtwar and apprehended the accused at Link Road, Malipeth Lower Kishtwar. During the search, approximately 11 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Shoukat Ali, son of Shafi Mohd, a resident of Dhammi, Tehsil Nagrota, District Jammu, currently residing near Islamia Faridia School, Kishtwar. In this regard, a case has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar under FIR No. 289/2024, under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act. The investigation has been initiated and is being carried out diligently. SSP Kishtwar Sh. Javaid Iqbal Mir-JKPS directed the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case to ascertain the forward and backward links of the accused to uncover the supply chain and identify other possible associates involved in the drug trade. He also instructed the IO to examine the accused's bank statements and financial transactions to trace the origins and beneficiaries of the illicit trade. SSP Kishtwar reiterated that District Police Kishtwar remains steadfast in its mission to eradicate drug abuse and safeguard the youth from falling into the trap of such illicit activities. He emphasized the importance of public cooperation in this battle and urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station without hesitation. |
