Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 7: Director Agriculture Jammu, Shri Arvinder Singh Reen, conducted an extensive tour of Rajouri District to assess agricultural practices, review infrastructural projects, and interact with local farmers. The tour commenced with a visit to the Hi-Tech Polyhouse under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) in Village Khabal, Panchayat Lower Bajwal B, Zone Sundarbani, where he inspected the exotic vegetable crops grown by farmer Chaman Lal. During the inspection, the Director emphasized the significant role of polyhouses in improving farmers' income and creating employment opportunities within rural areas. He encouraged the farmer to cultivate high-value crops year-round in the Hi-Tech Polyhouse, ensuring maximum returns and better market access. Director Agriculture continued his field visit to Zone Sundarbani, where he interacted with local farmers and inspected the thriving vegetable crops. He appreciated the efforts of the farmers and discussed ways to further enhance agricultural productivity in the region. Following this, the Director visited Sub Division Nowshera, where he met with farmer Naresh Kumar at his farm in Panchayat Thanda Paani, Zone Siot. The visit focused on assessing the current agricultural practices and discussing potential growth opportunities for local farmers. Director A.S Reen also visited Panchayat Lamberi, Sub Division Nowshera, to inspect the vegetable crops in the fields of Suresh Kumar, a resident of Village Bagla. The Director reviewed the crop health and progress, stressing the importance of sustainable farming techniques to ensure long-term success. Later, a meeting was held at SM Farm Lamberi, where the Director interacted with the field officers and staff of Rajouri District. He highlighted the importance of commitment and diligence in executing farmer-centric initiatives. Clear directives were issued for the effective implementation of projects under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and other agricultural schemes. The Director also reviewed the ongoing infrastructural projects at SM Farm, Lamberi, including the Farmers Training Centre (FTC) and compost unit. The review session aimed to ensure the timely completion and efficient functioning of these vital initiatives. Accompanying the Director on his visit were key officials, including the Chief Agriculture Officer Rajouri S. Sohan Singh, Assistant Soil Conservation Officer, District Agriculture Officer Extension, SMS-DL, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Nowshera, and other officers. Together, they reviewed the implementation of key agricultural initiatives and provided actionable recommendations for further improvements. |
