NC leadership's extraordinary 'Love' towards Rohingyas mystifying: Kavinder | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 7: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta on Saturday lambasted the National Conference (NC) leadership for creating unnecessary hysteria over police action against those supporting Rohingyas, the illegal immigrants from Myanmar, residing in various parts of the Jammu region. In a statement issued here today, Kavinder accused former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Minister Javaid Rana of sensationalizing the issue, asserting that the decision to cut water supplies to individuals renting properties to Rohingyas was a preventive measure to curb anti-national tendencies. He said the move was aimed at discouraging individuals from providing shelter to illegal immigrants, who pose a significant security threat to the region. Kavinder questioned the NC's "extraordinary love" for these illegal settlers, highlighting how the party had misrepresented facts to stir unnecessary controversy. "The NC leadership has gone to the extent of claiming that water and electricity connections for Rohingyas have been snapped. The reality is that only the connections of property owners renting to Rohingyas were targeted to send a clear message against aiding illegal immigrants," he explained. Kavinder emphasized that the action was in the larger interest of national security, aiming to ensure that these foreign elements leave the Jammu region voluntarily. He also underlined that this step was critical to prevent further infiltration of such individuals into the Union Territory. Kavinder called out the NC leadership for its misplaced priorities, stating, "Instead of standing with the security agencies and the people of Jammu, the NC has chosen to advocate for illegal immigrants who pose a danger to the region's peace and stability. Such actions expose their true intent and political opportunism, which is far removed from the aspirations of the common people of Jammu and Kashmir." |
