Early Times Report
KATHUA, Dec 7: Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, convened a comprehensive security review meeting at Billawar in the Kathua district on December 7, 2024. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including SSP Kathua Shobit Saxena, SP Operations Sh. Aumer Iqbal, Dy.SP Operations Malhar Sh. Sukhvir Singh, SDPO Billawar Sh. Shavinder Singh, and SHO Billawar, alongside representatives from other sister security agencies and CRPF officials.
The meeting focused on assessing winter preparedness and ensuring a robust security plan to counter threats posed by Over-Ground Workers (OGWs), Anti-National Elements (ANEs), and Anti-Social Elements (ASEs). DIG JSK Range emphasized the importance of proactive and coordinated efforts to neutralize potential threats.
Addressing the officials, DIG Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma directed the initiation of public awareness drives to encourage citizens to report any suspicious or terrorist activity at the nearest police station or police post. He assured that the J&K Police would provide full cooperation in these efforts.
Key security strategies were discussed during the meeting, including the destruction of terrorist support networks in regions such as Malhar and Machedi Badnota. DIG JSK Range also directed officers to strengthen and monitor key nakas, especially during nighttime and early hours.
Additionally, the meeting underscored the importance of installing CCTV cameras at strategic locations, such as Ujh Bridge, Varun Devta Bridge, and Ludhar Bridge, to monitor activities and ensure the coverage of all vulnerable areas. Coordinated efforts with other security agencies were also emphasized to strengthen the security grid at the grassroots level.
The officials were instructed to ensure effective monitoring of infiltration routes along the Ujh river and other nallahs to prevent breaches. Regular Conduct of Anti-Terrorist Operations (CASO) was also emphasized to eliminate potential threats effectively.
DIG JSK Range urged all officials to prioritize coordination with other agencies and adopt innovative security measures to maintain peace and stability in the region.
