Early Times Report KATHUA, Dec 10: Govt. Degree College Kathua, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), organized an awareness programme today on 10th of December 2024, focusing on critical issues such as police brutality, discrimination, and the violation of civil liberties and human rights in order to observe World Human Rights Day. The event featured distinguished resource persons, including Dy. Chief LADC Ms. Puneet Kumari, Assistant LADC Mr. Nishant Singh, and Mr. Rajesh Kumar, who delivered insightful sessions aimed at fostering awareness and empowering students and participants to understand and uphold their rights. The programme was conducted in cooperation with the National Service Scheme (NSS) units of the college and was skilfully coordinated by Dr. Yash Paul Sharma, Head, Department of Urdu. The initiative took place under the able guidance of the college Principal, Prof. Seema Mir, who emphasized the importance of such events in educating the youth and promoting a just and equitable society. Speaking on the occasion, the resource persons highlighted the legal frameworks and mechanisms available to address police misconduct, combat discrimination, and safeguard human rights. The interactive sessions provided a platform for students and attendees to engage in meaningful discussions, ask questions, and gain clarity on these significant issues. The formal Vote of Thanks was presented by Prof. Arvind Kumar NSS PO. The college expressed its commitment to organizing more such programs to nurture socially responsible citizens and reinforce the values of equality and justice in society. |
