JKMEF delegation meets Deputy CM to address health employees' concerns | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 10: A delegation from the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF), led by its President Sushil Sudan, met with the Deputy Chief Minister to discuss pressing issues affecting health employees in Jammu Province. The delegation submitted a memorandum outlining their key demands, seeking prompt resolution. Pending Salaries of 2211 Head Employees: Despite prior approvals and budgetary allocations, the salaries of employees under the 2211 Family Welfare head remain unpaid for the past six months, leaving many facing financial hardship. Change in Nomenclature of Pharmacists: The delegation requested renaming the post of Pharmacist to "Pharmacy Officer," as has been done in other states, to better recognize their critical role in healthcare services. Unreleased COVID-19 Incentives: The delegation highlighted the delay in disbursing COVID-19 incentives announced in 2021 for healthcare workers, urging immediate action for parity with employees of GMC Jammu and associated hospitals. Reorganization of Electrician Cadre: A request was made to reorganize the electrician cadre in the health department as per the standards of Medical Education. Central Government Health Schemes for Employees: The delegation sought inclusion of health employees and pensioners under central government health schemes to ensure better healthcare access. Regularization of Contractual Staff: The delegation emphasized the need for a clear policy to regularize NHM, HDF, RNTCP, and other contractual staff to provide job security and stability. The Deputy Chief Minister assured the delegation that their concerns would be addressed on a priority basis. The delegation included notable members such as Prafulat Singh, Shaffket Hussain Sheikh, Onkar Singh, Mohd Aslam, and others, representing a cross-section of the health department workforce. This meeting marks a step forward in addressing long-standing grievances of healthcare employees, critical to ensuring the effective delivery of health services in the region. |
