Farooq's support to Rohingyas vindicates BJP's stand on NC's devious role: Kavinder | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 10: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday condemned the statement by NC President Farooq Abdullah promising basic amenities like water and electricity to Rohingya refugees. Reacting sharply against Farooq Abdullah's remark that it is the responsibility of government to provide water and electricity to the illegal foreigners, the BJP stalwart said that the response of NC leader has not only revealed his party's clear support for illegal immigrants but also vindicated the BJP's long-standing position that the NC is actively endorsing and supporting the settlement of illegal refugees in the region. "This endorsement by NC, led by Dr. Abdullah, is a direct threat to the peace, security, and tranquility of the region", he stated in a statement issued to media persons here. The senior BJP functionary reiterated that Rohingya refugees are illegal immigrants and are posing serious security risks to the region. "Their settlement can prove detrimental to the social fabric and could lead to unrest in the peaceful communities of Jammu. The BJP has always stood for the protection of the rights and interests of the local population, and we cannot allow any political party to jeopardize the security of the local population by advocating for the welfare of illegal immigrants," he maintained. He questioned the rationale behind Farooq Abdullah's support for these refugees. "While the Jammu and Kashmir government is committed to ensuring the welfare of its citizens, providing services to illegal immigrants is an unacceptable overreach that compromises the region's safety. NC leader's statement further exposes the true agenda of his party, which seems to prioritize the interests of illegal foreign nationals over the well-being of the local population", he said and reiterating that BJP would continue to fight against any efforts to settle illegal immigrants in the region and would stand firm in its resolve to safeguard the peace and security of J&K. |
