Jammu, Dec 10: The 62nd Annual Raising Day of Homeguards & Civil Defence was celebrated with enthusiasm at SDRF 2nd Bn Headquarters, Gulshan Ground, Jammu. Shri Umesh Kumar, IPS, DIG HG/CD & SDRF Jammu, extended his congratulations on the occasion and commended the role of Homeguards and Civil Defence volunteers as first responders during disasters.
He appreciated their efforts over the past year and emphasized their key responsibilities in ensuring public safety. Messages from the President of India, the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, and senior officials from the UT administration were read out during the event.
Prominent officials such as Shri Zahid Naseem Manhas, IPS, Commandant SDRF 2nd Bn Jammu; Shri Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, IPS, Director Homeguards Jammu; and Shri Atul Sharma, JKPS, Staff Officer to Commandant General HG/CD & SDRF J&K, attended the function along with other officers, wardens, and volunteers.
The event also saw celebrations in Srinagar, with Shri Masroor Ahmad Mir, SSP JKPS, Commandant SDRF 1st Bn Srinagar, presiding as chief guest. Civil Defence and Homeguards volunteers and officials from Kashmir participated in the observance.
Smt. Anita Pawar, Dy.SP, Dy. Controller Civil Defence Jammu, delivered the welcome address, while Shri Dev Raj, Dy.SP and Principal CTI HG/CD Kotbhalwal Jammu, presented the vote of thanks.
The event concluded with a working lunch hosted for the guests and participants, who pledged continued dedication and service in the future.
