Bovine smuggling attempt foiled: 11 bovines rescued in Udhampur | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Dec 22: As part of its ongoing crackdown on bovine smuggling, District Police Udhampur successfully thwarted an attempt to transport bovines illegally in the jurisdiction of Police Station Rehambal. Eleven bovines were rescued, and the vehicle involved in the act was seized. During a routine vehicle checking at the Rehambal checkpoint, a police team led by the SHO of Police Station Rehambal intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK14J-8611. Upon inspection, 11 bovines were discovered tied in a cruel manner and being transported without valid documentation. The driver, identified as Muzamil Hussain, son of Mohd. Farooq, a resident of Kalakote, Rajouri, was arrested on the spot. The rescued bovines were safely relocated. A case has been registered under FIR No. 256/2024 at Police Station Rehambal under relevant sections of the law. Further investigation is underway to uncover more details and identify any accomplices involved in the smuggling operation. This action reflects the firm commitment of Udhampur Police to combat bovine smuggling and ensure the welfare of animals in the region. |
