Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 28: The Department of Linguistics and Literature, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ), successfully concluded a week-long celebration of Dogri Manyata Diwas, commemorating the inclusion of the Dogri language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India in 2003. The celebrations, held from December 19 to December 27, were organized under the patronage of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. K.S. Chandrasekhar. The event featured collaborative efforts from the Department of Modern Indian Languages (M.A.M. College), Department of Dogri (Jammu University), Department of English (SHLA), and the School of Social Sciences. A highlight was the Dogri Cultural Exhibition on December 26, where students showcased traditional Dogri cuisines, wedding items, attire, ornaments, handicrafts, utensils, and cultural artifacts. Chief guest Sh. Om Prakash Vidyarathi, an eminent environmentalist, recited Dogri poetry and introduced students to newly created scientific terms in the Dogri language. On December 27, a seminar on "Career Prospects in Linguistics and Language in the Corporate Sector" featured resource persons Ms. Seema Bhat, Senior Linguist at OLA Krutrim AI, and Ms. Vibhuti Tyagi, CEO of SUV Translation. They discussed entrepreneurial opportunities and career prospects in language services, emphasizing Dogri's potential in corporate fields. The week concluded with a prize distribution ceremony presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. K.S. Chandrasekhar, who urged students to promote Dogri culture and language.
