Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 28: December has been a tough month for Pakistan based terrorists. In the last 20 days, three big terrorists of the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba have died in Pakistan and PoJK.
The terrorists have died due to different reasons. Three dreaded Lashkar terrorists who died during the last few days included Abdul Aziz Alvi who died in Muzaffarabad Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir on December 12, Shakeel-ur-Rehman Adil in Rawalkot- in PoJK on December 23, and Abdul Rehman Makki in Muridke on December 27.
The latest case is related to Abdul Rehman, who was the deputy chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hafiz Mohammad Saeed. According to media reports, Makki died of a heart attack.
According to the United Nations, Abdul Rehman Makki served as the head of the foreign ranks of Lashkar-e-Taiba and was a member. Makki had many connections in Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JUD). He was the brother-in-law of Lashkar chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and was actively involved in raising funds for recruiting and radicalizing youth, and planning violent attacks, especially in India.

Abdul Rehman, deputy chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, died of a heart attack.
Makki was actively involved in raising funds for recruiting and radicalizing youth, and planning violent attacks, especially in India.
He was a virtual shadow of Hafiz Saeed before the latter was jailed for 36 years in 2019.
Makki had escaped designation under UNSC Resolution 1267 in 2008, when both Saeed as well as the LeT front organisation JuD were listed.
ore the latter was jailed for 36 years in 2019. Subsequently, he continued to front for Saeed, much like he had done for more than a decade with the LeT/Jamat-ud-Dawa leader listed by the UN Security Council as a terrorist after the 2008 Mumbai attacks, and constantly in and out of house arrest.
A fiery speaker, Makki had also been a regular speaker at the so-called Kashmir Solidarity Day rallies in Islamabad. At one such rally in February 2010, two years after the Mumbai attacks, Makki threatened “rivers of blood” in India for not handing over Kashmir to Pakistan, and threatened to seize it by force. He made a similar speech later that year. Makki escaped designation under UNSC Resolution 1267 in 2008, when both Saeed as well as the LeT front organisation JuD were listed. Resolution 1267 provides for sanctions against individuals and entities that support or finance the acts or activities of ISIL, Al-Qaida, associated individuals, groups, undertakings, and entities.
Months later, his speeches threatening violence in India earned him a place in the US Treasury Department’s list of designated and sanctioned terrorists in November 2010.
