Samba police nabbed 3 drug peddlers

SAMBA, Jan 1: Intensifying vigorous drive against drug peddlers/smugglers, Samba Police has arrested five drug peddlers in two separate incidents in Vijaypur & Ghagwal area and recovered 10.30 grams approximately heroin like substance and 4 grams approximately heroin like substance respectively from their possession.
A Police party headed by SHO PS Vijaypur under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur and under the overall supervision of SSP Samba while performing vehicle checking duty at nake NHW AIIMS Vijaypur, intercepted an alto car bearing registration No. JK06-3434 for its checking. During checking, 10.30 grams approximately heroin like substance and four mobile phones were recovered from the possession of three persons travelling in the said car.
The drug peddlers identified as Akashjot Singh S/o Prabjot Singh R/o W.No. 10 Mill Area RS Pura district Jammu, Sahil Kumar S/o Romesh Lal R/o Jasore tehsil R.S Pura district Jammu and Pawandeep Singh S/o Narinder Singh R/o Chatha district Jammu have been arrested and contraband item has also been seized.
A case FIR No. 01/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Vijaypur and investigation started.
It is pertinent to mention here that during the preliminary enquiry, it has surfaced that the accused persons have stolen the said alto car. During further checking, one battery was also recovered from the said vehicle.
Similarly in another incident, a Police party headed by Incharge Police Post Rajpura under the supervision of SHO PS Ghagwal and DySP Hqrs Samba and under the overall supervision of SSP Samba during vehicle checking naka established near Nursery Sanoora, intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK21F-9647 for its checking. During checking, 04 grams approximately heroin like substance was recovered from the possession of rider and pillion rider.
Both the drug peddlers identified as Kuljit Singh @Kalu S/o Bharat Singh R/o Sanoora tehsil Rajpura district Samba and Vivek Sharma S/o Parkash Chand R/O Harsath tehsil Ghagwal district Samba have been arrested and contraband item has also been seized.
A case FIR No. 183/2024 U/S 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
SSP Samba warned strict action against the people indulging in drug trafficking, bovine smuggling and other criminal activities and also sought the cooperation of people in this regard.
