J&K Fencers Shine at 35th Senior National Fencing Championship

KERALA, Jan 2: Fencers from Jammu and Kashmir have delivered exceptional performances at the ongoing 35th Senior National Fencing Championship (Men & Women) 2024-25 in Kannur, Kerala.
Vishal Thapar and Shreya Gupta made their mark in the sabres event, while Shivaansh Kapoor showcased his skill in the epee event, with all three athletes securing individual bronze medals in their respective categories.
Their impressive performances demonstrate not only their technical expertise but also their determination to excel on the national stage. The fencers were selected to compete by the J&K Sports Council's Screening Committee, with Bisham Slathia serving as their coach and Rahul Sharma as the team manager.
Ms. Nuzat Gul, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, congratulated the medal winners and wished them continued success in their future pursuits.
The J&K Fencing Association (JKFA), along with senior coaches Rachna Jamwal and Shotu Lal Sharma, and fellow senior fencers, also extended their heartfelt congratulations to the athletes for their remarkable achievements.
