933 vehicles involved in illegal mining seized in Jammu | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 2: In a significant move to combat illegal mining and tighten the noose around violators, Jammu Police in Jammu District has intensified its efforts against those exploiting public resources for personal gain. Special drives against illegal mining were conducted throughout the year 2024 in Jammu District. As a result of these operations, 933 vehicles involved in illegal mining were seized ,out of which 831 vehicles were released upon completing necessary formalities. Fines amounting to ?1,31,57,312/- were imposed on violators during the year. Additionally, for vehicles repeatedly involved in illegal mining activities, four FIRs were registered, highlighting the stern legal action being taken. The process for cancelling the registration of these habitual offender vehicles has also been initiated. The overarching goal of these efforts is to safeguard natural resources and curb the activities of the mining mafia, which poses a threat to the environment and public assets. Speaking on the achievements, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh-JKPS stated that Jammu Police is committed to protecting public property and eradicating the menace of illegal mining in the region. These efforts will continue to ensure the preservation of natural resources and strict action against violators. This decisive action demonstrates Jammu Police's unwavering commitment to enforcing the law and protecting the community's natural resources. |
