Traffic Diversions Announced for Nagar Kirtan Procession

Jammu, Jan 2: On the eve of the Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj, a religious Nagar Kirtan (procession) will be held on January 3, 2025, starting at 9:00 AM from Gurudawara Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, Jammu. The procession will pass through key areas of the city, including Vivekananda Chowk, Dogra Chowk, Bikram Chowk, Gandhi Nagar, and others, culminating at Gurudawara Sri Singh Sabha, Nanak Nagar, Jammu.
To ensure smooth flow of traffic and avoid inconvenience to the public and devotees, Jammu Traffic Police has announced several diversions and restrictions. Motorists, particularly those using public service vehicles (PSVs), are requested to follow the directions and cooperate with the traffic authorities during the event.
Diversions/Restrictions:
1. Vehicles coming from Samba, Kathua, and interstate will be diverted from Kunjwani via Narwal bypass towards Nagrata.
2. Vehicles coming from Poonch, Rajouri, and Akhnoor will be diverted via 4th Tawi Bridge/Bakshi Nagar Pulli.
3. Vehicles from Indira Chowk bound for JP Chowk and Vivekananda Chowk will be diverted towards the flyover or as per the situation until the procession passes Dogra Chowk.
4. Vehicles from Residency Road bound for Dogra Chowk will be diverted towards 4th Tawi Bridge, Belicharana, and onward towards Satwari.
5. Vehicles from Katra and Udhampur will be diverted from TCP Nagrota via Sidhra bypass towards Kunjwani.
6. Heavy vehicles bound for Katra, Udhampur, Doda, and Srinagar will be diverted from Kunjwani until the culmination of the Nagar Kirtan.
For Jammu City-bound Traffic:
7. Vehicles can either take the routes via Narwal, Qasim Nagar, PHQ Chowk, Bikram Chowk, and the flyover or Qasim Nagar, Gujjar Nagar, Circular Road.
8. Vehicles originating from Kunjwani, Satwari, and R.S. Pura will follow Beli Charana Road for heavy vehicles and Asia Crossing for LMVs.
9. The flyover will remain operational for the entire day, with specific routes for vehicles depending on the procession’s location.
10. Traffic will be restricted/diverted depending on the procession's progress.
11. Vehicles coming from Shastri Nagar bound for Dogra Chowk will be diverted via Last Morh Gandhi Nagar to the main Satwari-Bikram Chowk Road.
No trucks will be allowed entry into Jammu City from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
