JAMMU, Jan 4: The Motor Vehicles Department conducted an enforcement drive on Jammu-Akhnoor Road and surrounding areas, here today. The emphasis was to check unfit vehicles, overloading by passenger/goods vehicles, mobile phone use while driving, without helmet two-wheeler riding, altered/tampered registration plates, vehicles without documents, reckless/dangerous driving, triple riding on two wheelers. The drive was supervised by ARTO Flying Squad Bipen Singh Charak. The team consisted of MVI Rajiv Kundal and MVTA Tarunjot Singh along with supporting staff. More than 125 vehicles were inspected during the enforcement drive out of which 43 vehicles were e-challaned and 01 driving license was recommended for suspension under the provision of Motor Vehicles Act and Rules. The anticipated revenue from e-challans is INR 76,800/-. Driver, conductor and vehicle owners were educated on road safety measures, driving in Foggy conditions, use of FOG Lamps during fog, preventative vehicle maintenance, and adherence to traffic regulations to promote road safety. |
