Jammu, Jan 4: Sohan Lal, a resident of Pacholi Purmandal, is in critical condition on a ventilator at a Pathankot hospital following a brutal assault on December 29, 2024. His family has made an emotional appeal for financial assistance to save his life.
According to the family, Sohan Lal was taken from his home by two individuals, Iqbal and Kalu, under the pretext of going to Bajalta. During the outing, they allegedly attacked him, striking him on the head with a bottle.
The assault caused severe injuries, including excessive blood loss, a broken backbone, and a deep head wound requiring 10 stitches. The family suspects the attack was premeditated, with the perpetrators fleeing the scene immediately after the act.
Sohan Lal, a daily wage laborer and the sole breadwinner for his family, is battling for his life. In a video recorded from his hospital bed, he tearfully pleaded for his children’s welfare, saying, “If I die, please take care of my children.”

eir last conversation, in which he promised to return home soon. Now devastated, she has appealed for public help to cover the mounting medical expenses. “We are a poor family, and Sohan is the only earner. Without him, our future is uncertain,” she said.
Sohan Lal’s brother, who is physically disabled, believes the attack was deliberate. “We are certain this was planned. His friends had ill intentions, and now we’ve lost the only member who could support us,” he said.
Sohan Lal’s elderly mother also appealed to the community and authorities. “We cannot afford his treatment. Please help us save his life,” she cried.
The family is struggling to cover his medical costs and has urged the public to donate generously to ensure his survival and support his three children’s future.
The family has called on the police to thoroughly investigate the case and bring the culprits to justice.
