Agencies BHUBANESWAR, Jan 4: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated several initiatives to enhance road safety as part of the National Road Safety Month. In a key move, the state government announced the installation of smart devices in all buses, aimed at detecting and preventing negligence such as drunk driving and driver loss of consciousness. The devices will significantly contribute to reducing road accidents. The Chief Minister also revealed plans to recruit over 2,000 traffic police personnel, with 500 to be hired this year alone, to further bolster road safety across the state. Additionally, the CM launched the Odisha Yatri app, which allows users to book autos and taxis, eliminating middlemen and benefiting both travelers and drivers.
