| Forest team seizes timber and fuelwood | | |  Early Times Report
KATHUA, Jan 4: A team from the Forest Check Post Basholi Morh, led by Range Forest Officer S. Amardeep Singh, conducted routine checks at the Flyover near the Lakhanpur-Madhopur Ravi Bridge and apprehended a truck (registration no. PB65BB/8947). Upon inspection, the truck was found to be carrying 7.9843 CUM of timber logs and 40 quintals of fuelwood.
Further investigation revealed that the cargo was being transported from Plassi, Basholi, to a destination outside the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The vehicle, along with its cargo, was seized for violations under various sections of the Forest Act and related rules, including Section 52(1) and Rule 7(3) of S.O 81 of 2020.
The case has been submitted to the Divisional Forest Officer Kathua for the initiation of confiscation proceedings. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Rajan Singh (SFS), Divisional Forest Officer Kathua. |
