120th general council meeting of Dogra Sadar Sabha held | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 5: The 120th General Council meeting of Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) was convened today at the Sabha premises in Jammu. Representatives from across the Union Territory participated in the General Council meeting. During the meeting, elections for the posts of President and office bearers of the Sabha were conducted under the supervision of Returning Officer Brig MS Jamwal (Retd.) assisted by Sh. G A Khwaja Retd. DC. The General Council unanimously re-elected Shri Gulchain Singh Charak as the President and Adv. H C Jalmaria as Gen. Secretary of DSS, reaffirming their leadership and dedication. The President and Gen. Secretary also nominated other office bearers for various positions to strengthen the Sabha's functioning which include Col. Karan Singh Jamwal, Adv. Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, G.A. Khwaja, Narinder Singh Jamwal, S. Arvinder Singh Amn, Dr Naseeb Singh Manhas, Amanat Ali Shah, Khajur Singh, Brig. Vijay Sagar Dheman, Jagdeep Singh, Master Chhankar Singh, Maj. Gen. Sunita Kapoor VSM, Prof.Dr. Anita Billawaria, Mrs. Uma Katal, Adv. Ahtsham, and Master Davinder Singh. In his address, Shri Gulchain Singh Charak expressed heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Sabha for reposing their trust in him and reiterated his commitment to working tirelessly for the welfare of the Dogra community and the preservation of its rich heritage. The former Minister highlighted the Sabha’s ongoing efforts to address key regional issues and promote unity among the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the Sabha was constituted during the time of Maharajas in 1904 with Lala Hans Raj Mahajan as its founder Gen. Secretary. The other executive members of the Sabha were Mian Jawala Singh, Vakil Hazarat Shah and Daya Krishan Gardish later S. Budh Singh also. It was the only organization in the State that time which was recognized by the then rulers. It worked for the brotherhood, amity and welfare of the society. Since then it is continuing its work for the Dogra cause, whether it is cultural heritage, promotion of language, historical places and over all development of the region. The General Council meeting adopted several significant resolutions aimed at addressing key issues and preserving the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. The resolutions included a strong demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and measures to combat the smuggling and peddling of narcotics in all forms. The Sabha emphasized the need for a comprehensive conservation plan to revive and restore the Mubarak Mandi Complex, a historic symbol of Dogra heritage. |
