MLA Ajaz Jan conducts three-day tour to snow-bound areas, assess people's problems

POONCH, Jan 6: Ajaz Jan, Senior National Conference (NC) leader and MLA Haveli Assembly constituency in district Poonch, conducted an extensive three-day tour of snow-bound areas in Mandi, Sawjian Sector, Loran, and other affected regions to assess the situation and oversee the restoration of essential services disrupted by heavy snowfall.
During his visit, Ajaz Jan ensured that priority was given to restoring power supply and providing relief to residents grappling with the challenges posed by extreme weather conditions. Highlighting the commitment of the present National Conference government, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Jan reiterated that the administration is dedicated to alleviating public hardships and ensuring swift action during such crises.
The MLA expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner of Poonch and the Indian Army for their prompt support in extending assistance to the affected population. Their coordinated efforts have been instrumental in providing relief and mitigating the impact of the snowfall.
In a move to streamline relief efforts and improve coordination, Ajaz Jan announced the formation of dedicated teams to address the pressing issues faced by people in snow-covered regions. In Mandi Block, the team headed by Abdul Haq Bhat, Bashir Niak, and Abdul Zabbar Tantray. Meanwhile, in Poonch Block, the team comprised of Bag Hussain Rathore, Peer Inayat Bukhari, Issar Khan, Zahoor Khan, Ch. Shabir, Ch. Sofi Qyoom, Mukhtyar Rathore, Jahangir Sagar, Javed Lone, and Ajmal Khan.
Ajaz Jan said that these teams will serve as a vital link between the people and the administration, ensuring that concerns related to basic amenities such as ration, water, and power are promptly addressed. He emphasized that these efforts reflect the commitment of Omar Abdullah Government in resolving people's issues in challenging times, especially in hilly and remote areas affected by harsh weather conditions.
The MLA assured residents that the Omar government will continue to prioritize infrastructure development and disaster preparedness in snow-bound areas to prevent future disruptions.
