J&K police Kishtwar solves transformer theft case within 24 hours

KISHTWAR, Jan 7: In a swift and decisive action, Kishtwar Police solved a transformer theft case within 24 hours, arresting three individuals and recovering the stolen 25 KV electric transformer along with its core and coils. The theft occurred on the intervening night of January 3/4, 2025, in the Chandara-Balgran area of Drabshalla.
Upon receiving a complaint, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar constituted a special investigation team led by IC PP Drabshalla under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kishtwar. Through meticulous technical and field investigations, the team identified and apprehended the suspects.
The three accused were identified as:
Mohd. Mushtaq, son of Mohd. Ameen Shah, resident of Dunadi, Drabshalla
Mohd. Dawood, son of Ghulam Mohd., resident of Balgran, Drabshalla
Liaqat Hussain, son of Hazoor Din, resident of Chamoti, Drabshalla
During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the crime and revealed the location where the stolen property was hidden. Acting swiftly, the police team recovered the stolen transformer, including its core and coils, ensuring the restoration of valuable public property.
A case under FIR No. 07/2025 has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and further investigations are ongoing.
SSP Kishtwar commended the police team for their prompt action and reaffirmed the department's commitment to maintaining law and order. He warned anti-social elements and criminal syndicates, emphasizing zero tolerance for illegal activities.
"The Kishtwar Police will ensure that offenders are brought to justice. Those engaging in theft or disrupting public peace will face strict legal action," stated the SSP.
This swift resolution highlights the efficiency and dedication of Kishtwar Police in addressing crime and safeguarding the district's peace and harmony.
