Jammu, Jan 7: Continuing its crackdown on bovine smuggling under Operation Kamdhenu, Jammu Police foiled an attempt to smuggle 10 bovines in the Manwal area of Sub-division Nagrota. A team from Police Post Manwal intercepted a Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JK02AG/2837 at a naka in Jeda Manwal. The vehicle, traveling from Battal Majalta towards Udhampur, was stopped for inspection. However, the driver fled the scene under the cover of darkness, abandoning the vehicle. Upon inspection, 10 bovines were found inside the vehicle, which were subsequently rescued. The vehicle has been seized, and an FIR No. 03/2025 under sections 223/BNS and 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli. Further investigation is underway to trace the absconding driver and identify others involved. The local community has lauded the Jammu Police for their relentless efforts and strict measures against bovine smuggling in the region. |
