Cyber Cell of Kulgam police recover Rs 13,69,377 from online financial frauds | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 11: Police said they received complaints involving fraudulent schemes. "These scams involved fake investment opportunities where victims were promised high returns for additional deposits," the police said. Acting swiftly, the Cyber Police Kulgam collected evidence and necessary information from the victims. Police said using advanced cyber means, they managed to freeze the fraudulent transactions. An amount of Rs 13,69,377 was held and recovered and thereof it was successfully credited back to the victims. Kulgam Police urged citizens to remain vigilant against online scams, including fraudulent trading platforms. They also advised people to avoid clicking on suspicious links, responding to fake SMS claiming credits, or installing unauthorized applications. The police also advised residents to exercise caution when receiving video calls from unknown numbers and refrain from sharing personal or sensitive information online. "If you encounter any suspicious activities, report immediately to the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 or visit www.cybercrime.gov.in," police said. |
