JKHCBA team meets Chief Minister, submits charter of demands | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 17: The newly elected team of the J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu (JKHCBAJ), led by President Advocate K. Nirmal Kotwal, met the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir today. The delegation included Vice-President Advocate Baldev Singh, General Secretary Advocate Pardeep Majotra, Joint Secretary Advocate Anshu Mahajan, and Treasurer Advocate Rahul Aggarwal. The team congratulated the Hon’ble Chief Minister on securing a massive mandate and expressed gratitude for his continued support toward addressing the welfare needs of the people, particularly the legal fraternity. They acknowledged the government’s attention to strengthening the justice system and enhancing the well-being of lawyers. During the meeting, the JKHCBAJ presented a memorandum of demands, highlighting key issues and infrastructure needs: • Restoration of Charges/Fees on Vakalatnama for the welfare of Bar members. • Reinstatement of Judicial Powers to Registrars/Sub-Registrars. • Construction of a multi-storey building to house tribunals, commissions, and registration work within court premises. • Establishment of medical dispensaries in District Court complexes. • Infrastructure Development, including extension of lawyers’ chambers, completion of pending construction, multi-storey parking at Janipur, repair of court roofs, installation of ACs, digital libraries, and provision of computers with printers and software. • Security measures for advocates and litigants. • Support for young lawyers, including adjustments and a monthly stipend for new entrants. • Allotment of land for an Advocates Residential Colony. • Creation of a dedicated crèche facility at court complexes. • Comprehensive insurance coverage for lawyers and their dependents. • Financial protection for advocates in cases of untimely death or incapacitation. • Amendments to Acts to enable advocates’ appointments to positions in tribunals, commissions, and forums. The Chief Minister assured the delegation of a positive and prompt review of the demands, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting the legal fraternity and strengthening the judicial system. The meeting concluded with the Bar Association expressing optimism about the government’s proactive measures to address their concerns. |
